Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question?  Ask us and we'll answer it!

Why celebrate in Israel?

There are so many excellent reasons to celebrate your lifecycle events in Israel.  The first is the most obvious—the connection to the past of the Jewish people is so much stronger in Israel than anywhere else in the world.  You can literally walk in the footsteps of the men and women from the Bible.  There are so many meaningful and significant venue choices, old and new.  A celebration in Israel is so much more than just a party; it is a cultural, religious, and educational experience that will last a lifetime.  In addition, on the practical side, celebrating in Israel is cheaper.  Museums and other venues that would be prohibitively expensive in the U.S. for example are very reasonably priced here.  Flowers, caterers, photographers, musicians, hotels, etc. are all less expensive in Israel so that your overall costs are less, even including air fare.  If you don’t believe us, do a little research for yourself!  Another advantage is that every celebration in Israel is unique, and you don’t have to conform to anyone else’s standards but your own.  It allows for more creativity, more fun, and a lot less pressure--social, financial, and otherwise.

How is planning a celebration in Israel different than in other countries?

Israelis have a laid back attitude regarding planning in advance.  Those who are used to working with English speaking clients have undoubtedly adjusted their attitude somewhat and are used to booking events 6-12 months in advance.  However, there are some businesses that are not quite there yet and will have conceptual trouble with the idea of advanced planning.  Don’t be put off by this attitude!  It can be very deceptive and does not reflect incompetence or unprofessional behavior as much as it does a cultural norm here in Israel that is not at all the norm elsewhere in the world!

Also, banquet halls are frequently located in the middle of industrial zones. Don’t be put off by the outside of a hall or by the neighborhood to the point where you don’t even bother looking at the inside.  Yes, it’s a little disconcerting at first, but many of Israel’s banquet halls are palatial and opulent; and once you are inside the hall, you totally forget where it is located.

The food here in Israel is different, which is to be expected.  If the venue or caterer are “very Israeli”, you may want to ask them to tone down the spicing of the food a bit (or supply lots of readily available drinks :-)

Help!! How do we deal with the language and cultural issues?

Many of the businesses on Celebrateisrael.com are English speaking, and most of those who are not can communicate in English for the most part.  Please realize that these vendors really want your business and they are willing to try to work through the cultural differences in order to make you happy.

Can Celebrate Israel provide full-service party planning?

Yes, we can.  For more information, please contact us and we will arrange a mutually convenient time for a phone conversation to discuss the details.
