Celebration Web site

If you are traveling to Israel to celebrate a wedding, Bar Mitzvah or any simcha, you can find several businesses to plan the event for you, down to the fold in the napkin. But, until a few months ago, visitors who wanted to be more hands-on with the planning of their celebration had few resources available to them. Which gave Jael Kurtz and Judy Krasna an idea for a new Web site and business.

Last February, the two partners launched CelebrateIsrael.com, a compendium of resources from caterers to printers that facilitates a do-it-yourself approach to event planning in Israel.

“The site was designed to be much more than a directory listing of businesses and service providers,” said Krasna, who, like her partner, is originally from the U.S. ”The vendors that appear on our site are personally recommended by Jael and me; they meet our American standards of quality and service.”

Kurtz and Krasna vet every vendor with a combination of interviews, references, and personal recommendations. Each, she said, is “reliable, able to communicate in English, and easy to work with.”

The site is also free, and both partners are available via e-mail to offer additional help.
